Managing your projects efficiently is essential to making the most of your account and avoiding disruptions when creating new projects. This article explains why archiving or deleting projects is important, especially if your account has limitations based on the number of projects or hectares.

Understanding Project and Hectare Limits

Depending on your subscription plan, there are specific limits to the number of projects you can create and the hectares they can encompass. Here's an overview of these limits:

  • Starter Plan:

    • Maximum of 5,000 active hectares per month

  • Pro Plan:

    • Up to 20 active projects

    • Total of 250,000 active hectares

  • Enterprise Plan:

    • Up to 250 active projects

    • Total of 2,500,000 active hectares

  • Custom Plan:

    • Limits are defined in your contract. Please refer to your agreement or contact us for clarification.

What Does Active Project Means?

Active projects are those displayed on the project creator's homepage. Once a project is created, it is accessible at any time and does not require a page refresh to be counted as active. Users can enter and view these projects whenever they choose.

What Happens If You Reach Your Limit?

If you hit the limit for active projects or hectares on your account, you won’t be able to create new projects until you free up space. To do this:

  1. Archive old projects to deactivate them while preserving the option to reactivate.

  2. Delete unnecessary projects to permanently free up space.

Best Practices for Managing Projects

  • Regularly Review Your Projects
Periodically review your active projects to determine which can be archived or deleted.

  • Archive Before Deleting
If you're unsure whether you might need a project in the future, archive it first. You can always delete it permanently later if needed.

  • Monitor Your Usage
Keep track of your project and hectare usage to avoid hitting the limits unexpectedly.

The Difference Between Archiving and Deleting Projects

  1. Archiving Projects

    • Archiving allows you to deactivate a project while keeping the option to reactivate it later.

    • This is useful if you might need the project data in the future but don't need it to remain active.

    • Archived projects do not count toward your active project or hectare limits.

  2. Deleting Projects

    • Deleting a project permanently removes it from your account.

    • Use this option if you're certain the project data will no longer be needed.

    • Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.

Current Cycle vs. Next Cycle

When you archive or delete a project, starting from the next billing cycle, you’ll only be charged for active projects: make sure to archive or delete any projects you don’t want to be billed for in the next cycle!

Note that this won’t affect the current cycle’s usage fees. If a project was active during this period, it will be included in the usage charges for this cycle, even if it’s archived or deleted by the end.
